National Productivity Dialogue 2024

The fifth National Productivity Dialogue will take place on 20 June 2024 in Berlin. Most sessions will be held in German only.

The Productivity Report from the Annual Report 2023/24 can be found here.

The topics of the productivity dialogue are based on the productivity report from the Annual Report 2023/24 and the chapter on decarbonsation of freight transport, which the German Council of Economic Experts will publish in May. According to the medium-term projection in the Annual Report, the potential output will only grow by an average of 0.4 percent per year until 2028 if current dynamics continue unchanged. This would be merely one-third of the average growth rate of the 2010s and is primarily due to the declining labour volume.

The first panel will discuss the potential growth opportunities offered by AI and start-ups. Guests include Dr Jörg Goschin, CEO of KfW Capital, and Vanessa Cann, Director of the German AI Association. The second panel discussion will focus on mobility and infrastructure. Other guests include Uwe Phillipp, State Secretary at BMWK, Tim Scharwath, CEO DHL Global Forwarding & Freigth and Daniela Kluckert, Parliamentary State Secretary at the BMDV.

If you are interested in participating in the National Productivity Dialogue, you can already register here (in German).
