The members of the German Council of Economic Experts today unanimously elected Professor Dr. Christoph M. Schmidt, RWI Essen, as Chairman for a further term in office. Prof. Schmidt has chaired the Council since 2013.
Earlier today Prof. Dr. Achim Truger, Berlin School of Economics and Law, had received his certificate of appointment as a new member of the German Council of Economic Experts for the term until 29 February 2024 from Peter Altmaier, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy. Prof. Truger succeeds Professor Dr. Peter Bofinger, who had left the Council after 15 years at the end of his term of office on 28 February 2019.
