Environment and Energy

Overview

The global climate change has considerable consequences for humans – both for individuals as for the society as a whole. At the same time, the transformation towards climate neutrality is an unprecedented economic challenge in which the instruments have a decisive influence on its success and the economic costs.

Therefore, the GCEE addresses the German and European climate and energy policy regularly. The focus is on how German and European climate policy can advance global climate protection efforts, how to achieve climate goals efficiently and how to convert the energy system from fossil-fuels to renewable energies. Furthermore, the GCEE examines the economic and distributional implications of this transformation by considering the opportunities and risks for German companies and the consequences for households.
