Christian Ochsner joined the scientific staff of the GCEE in July 2022 as economist for macroeconomics and financial markets. Previously, he worked as a research associate in the Public Finance Division of the Deutsche Bundesbank and at the Chair of Empirical International Economics at the University of Göttingen. From 2012 to 2022, he studied philosophy, economics, political science, and history at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, the Universitat de Barcelona, and the Universiteit Gent. He received his PhD in 2022 with a dissertation on business cycle forecasting and global financial markets.
