Dr. Leonardo Urrutia

Economist

Leonardo Urrutia has been an Economist for Macroeconomics on the academic staff of the German Council of Economic Experts since September 2026. He studied Economics at Freie Universität Berlin. He subsequently worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Theoretical Economics at Leipzig University and completed a PhD traineeship at the European Central Bank during his doctoral studies. He received his PhD in Economics from Leipzig University in 2026. During his doctoral studies, his research focused in particular on the analysis of macro-financial risks (including those related to climate change) and financial stability using quantitative macroeconomic models.
