Theresa Neef joined the scientific staff of the GCEE as an economist specializing in public finance in May 2025. Her research focuses on income and wealth distribution as well as taxation. Prior to joining the Council, she worked at the World Inequality Lab and the EU Tax Observatory at the Paris School of Economics, the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH), and the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin). She completed her Ph.D. in Economics at Freie Universität Berlin in 2024. Her dissertation examined income inequality in Germany. She studied at Freie Universität Berlin, the University of Göttingen, and Leipzig University.
