Peter Kreß is an economist for macroeconomics and public finance on the scientific staff of the German Council of Economic Experts. He joined the Council’s scientific staff in July 2025. He studied economics at the University of Regensburg and at the American University in Washington, DC. As a PhD candidate at the University of St. Gallen, including a research visit at Stanford University, his research focuses on the macroeconomic effects of unconventional fiscal policy and on household finance, particularly regarding homeownership formation.
