Cabinet's proposal for appointment of Veronika Grimm and Monika Schnitzer

The German Cabinet has decided today to propose to the Federal President the appointment of Prof. Dr. Veronika Grimm and Prof. Dr. Monika Schnitzer as new members of the German Council of Economic Experts.

Prof. Dr. Veronika Grimm is Professor of Economic Theory at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and Director of the "Laboratory for Experimental Research Nuremberg" (LERN). She is proposed for the term of office until 28 February 2022. Prof. Dr. Monika Schnitzer is Professor of Comparative Economic Research at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich. The proposal for the appointment of Monika Schnitzer is for the term until 28 February 2025.

After their appointment by the Federal President, they will succeed Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Christoph M. Schmidt and Prof. Dr. Isabel Schnabel. The term of Christoph M. Schmidt has ended on 29 February 2020. Isabel Schnabel took up her new position as Director of the European Central Bank (ECB) on 1 January 2020 and resigned as a member of the German Council of Economic Experts at the same time.
