Volker Wieland resigns from the German Council of Economic Experts

Wiesbaden, 09.04.2022 – Volker Wieland has decided to resign from the German Council of Economic Experts (GCEE). The resignation will take place at the end of April and thus ten months before the scheduled end of his second term of office on 28 February 2023. "After more than nine years with nine annual reports, three special reports, three productivity reports and 20 economic outlooks, I have decided end my membership in the German Council of Economic Experts so that I can once again dedicate myself more intensively to my main activities in research and teaching and as managing director of a university centre," said Volker Wieland, member of the GCEE.

Prof. Volker Wieland, Ph.D., has been a council member of the GCEE since March 2013. He holds the Endowed Chair of Monetary Economics and is Managing Director of the Institute for Monetary and Financial Stability (IMFS) at Goethe University Frankfurt. He is also a Research Fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London, a member of the Kronberger Kreis, as well as a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the German Ministry of Finance and of the Advisory Board of the Stability Council (Stabilitätsrat). Since 2004, he has organised the annual conference "The ECB and Its Watchers", at which representatives of central banks, academics and financial market participants discuss current issues of monetary policy.
