BUSINESS CYCLES OF THE GERMAN ECONOMY

The German Council of Economic Experts regularly presents a chronology of Germany's business cycles and determines the business cycles by periods of expansion and period of contraction (recession). In determining these, the GCEE models its approach following the methodology of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR).

The following chart shows the periods of recession since 1950.
Additional reference data on the recessions can be found in an Excel sheet for download here.
